How we work — The debt collection process
Collecting an international B2B receivable isn't a one-off act — it's a process that requires understanding the context, patience and an individual approach. Here is what working with Alterclaim looks like, step by step.
The process in 5 steps
You send us the basic information
The first step is simple. You send us a short description of the case and the basic documentation. You don't need complete contracts or legal documents at this stage — just enough for us to understand what it's about.
Based on that information, we schedule a conversation and agree on the next steps.
We analyse the case and assess collectability
Once we receive the basic information, we analyse the receivable, the documentation and the history of the business relationship. The goal is to assess whether the case has realistic room for collection.
The collectability assessment costs €150. If it shows there's no room for collection, we won't persuade you to continue.
We define an individual approach
Every receivable is different. There are contracts, relationships, previous communication and circumstances that need to be understood.
Based on the analysis, we define an approach that fits the case — no templates, no mass campaigns.
We communicate with the relevant people
Once the approach is defined, we move to direct communication with the other side. The goal is to establish a dialogue that leads to a solution.
This phase requires understanding the business context and the ability to talk to the people who can make a decision.
We put the negotiation strategy to work
Through commercial negotiations, we look for a way forward — without legal action, without pressure, without escalation.
The goal is an agreement that works for both sides. If that's not possible, we'll tell you openly.
What the process doesn't include
- No legal action (lawsuits, enforcement)
- No mass reminder campaigns
- No pressure on the debtor
- No hidden costs
How long the process takes
It depends on the case — from a few weeks to a few months. We don't promise deadlines in advance, because every case is different.
What we can promise is that you'll always know where your case stands.
What you get
- A clear collectability assessment before you decide to continue
- An individual approach tailored to your case
- Regular updates on the progress
- An honest answer if there's no realistic room for collection
How to start
Send us the basic information — a short description of the case and the basic documentation. We'll then do a collectability assessment (€150), and you decide whether you want us to continue.
